Bonjour lovelies...

How was everyone's weekend? Mine was relaxing... just what I wanted for my last weekend with Lee <3

My parents get home from Mexico tomorrow and I have been cleaning lots today haha...hope the house is to their liking!

I wanted to share with you an "experience" from yesterday...

Lee had been mentally preparing himself for quite some time in regards to this experience. You see, I'm a scot...pretty much 90 percent of my blood is scottish ;) Lee said in order for him to be considered scot...he needed to partake in a certain tradition.

Eating haggis...

And you know we had to take it to the next level...

Eating haggis in a can!

I sat back and watched this glorious occasion (in horror)...

Oh the smell...THE SMELL! The HORROR!!! It turned my tummy.

I gagged.

Heating up said haggis (that was in a can) now in a bowl...

Lee took this picture (with flash)...I told him to use regular light...but he said oh no...if you take upclose shots you must use the flash! He insisted. He has much to learn ;)

Big thumbs up apparently... ewww. I gagged at the smell. Literally.

I decided to document my eats for the day. Although, they are not very interesting :)

Breakfast...

1(x2) of coffee cocoa

Simply added 6 scoops of folgers coffee blend and 2 scoops of cocoa blend to coffee maker! I had 2 cups and lee had around 3...

I really had no appetite for a regular breakfast!

I spent the morning cleaning up and doing homework and broke for lunch...

Some chopped cuke with some light ranch for dippage.

A smoothie using...

My beloved greek yogurt (used a little less then a cup)

coconut juice (bout 70 cals for the can)

1 scoop of the *failed* coconut butter

2 spoonfuls of maca

1 cup of frozen no sugar added blueberries...

And I also added 1 frozen banana that had been cut up, few handfuls of ice and water to get it all movin!

Big smoothie (X2) for Lee and little one for me :)

Delish...

Lee and I also split a yummy glo bar...

For the remainder of the day... I cleaned, cuddled with Lee and took a delicious nap! That's what Sundays are for!

I decided that since it was Lee's last night here until probably end of April or May..to be a nice girlfriend and order dinner from his favorite pizza place...Toppers!

I ordered him a large 10 topper pizza (yes..he loves it)

And for myself...a small greek pizza on multigrain crust (I like to get smalls as the slices are generally smaller and it suits me fine!)

On the greek pizza was tomato sauce, mozza and feta cheese, green pepper, tomatos and black olives...yummy!

I had 4 slices (pretty much 3 regular sized slices)

With about a billion glasses of h20 to wash it all down ;)

Now to hang with the man...and trying not to get too upset that he is leaving tomorrow!

Have a great night everyone!

Syrup, Butter, Candy

Happy weekend folks!

So...I know, I know...that I have been slacking on my blogging responsibilities. But, in all fairness... spending time with my boyfriend, going to work, working on homework and family responsibilities have been totally consuming me! Lee goes back home Monday...so I'm taking advantage of my time with him!

I'll ask it again...how do some bloggers balance it all!? I mean..sorry, but I need more then an hour of quality time with my man lol.

Anyhow...I was supposed to visit the sugar bush today but it's a rainy day! Not sugar bush photo taking material...

But I can show you some truly Canadian, local, goodies I have!

This isn't the stuff you find on your grocery shelves.... labeled *made in Canada*.

This is the real deal ;)

mmm...nothin better then local maple syrup!

Won't buy it unless it says...

Maple Syrup Facts

A maple tree lasts at least 30 years and is 12 inches in diameter before it is tapped.

As a tree increases in diameter more taps can be added, up to a maximum of four.

Tapping does no permanent damage to the tree. Only 10% of the sap is collected each year.

Each tap yields an average of 10 gallons of sap per season, yielding about one quart of syrup.

Warm sunny days (above 40ยบ F) and frosty nights are ideal for sap flow.

The maple season may last 4 to 6 weeks, but sap flow is heaviest for 10 to 20 days.

Sap flowing in high volumes is called a "run".

The harvest season ends with the arrival of warm spring nights and early bud development in the trees.

30-50 gallons of sap are evaporated to make one gallon of syrup.

Maple Syrup is boiled even further to produce Maple Cream, Sugar and Candy.

It takes one gallon of syrup to produce eight pounds of candy or sugar.

A gallon of pure Maple Syrup weighs 11 pounds.

The sugar content of sap averages 2.5%

The sugar content of syrup averages 66.5%

Other treats I like to indulge in during maple syrup season!

mmmmmaple buttttter

and...

THREE!!! bags of maple sugar candies for 5 dollars!

What is your favorite grade and make of maple syrup!? What do you like to use maple syrup on/in?

One more thing that has been happening in the Jocelyn Eats Fresh Household...

A major food fail/let down!

Homemade coconut butter! I added dried shredded coconut to the food processor in hopes of creamy, yummy coconut butter that so many bloggers have been achieving...and what did I get?

After 25 minutes in the processor..it was just a clump of thick, gritty coconut lol. It's still ok..I'll slather it on stuff :P What is the secret to making it work!?!?

Well thats all for me! Enjoy the weekend!
