Cha Cha Cha Changes

by Jocelyn on February 17, 2012

Hello! Anyone out there? It’s me…your old friend:D I’m back to try again!

Lots has changed since first time around but I’m back and ready to share my life with you (deep, I know). Firstly, I wanted to give a shout out to Zesty and thank him for giving me a brand new bloggie! He does amazing work and somehow my thoughts have come to life through design!

So, lets get to the changes. Right to the down and dirty!

From basically doing nothing with my life and being too depressed and in a bad binge/starve cycle to let alone get out of bed in the mornings, I have changed my life around.

1. Enrolled in a recreation and leisure program at college (full time program)

Recreation and leisure has always been a great interest of mine. I grew up taking various programs such as dance and soccer and also trained in various positions working with kids at day camps and kids with disabilities. I am also volunteering through my school at a senior home and planning programs for the residents! Recreation and leisure is SO important to our daily life and health! I hope to discuss it more on this blog.

2. Maintain a morning job every day before school

I can’t show you a picture, but I take care of the cutest girls every morning and I make sure they get to school safely. It’s a great gig :D It also works out with my schedule and allows me to make some extra money while I am attending classes full time at college. I know this doesn’t seem like a big deal, but trust me…being able to balance a small part time job and school is a big step for me.

3. Left a three year relationship
I knew deep in my heart I was not in a good relationship for me. In the end it was the best decision I have ever made and possibly the most scariest! I have never looked back!

4. Sorted out my finances (slowly but surely)

I pay for school by myself – I don’t have loans or use OSAP, I am also thankfully debt free. There was a time where I couldn’t even afford my phone bill because I was so careless with my money. I am trying to learn how to be frugal and how to be sensible with my money.

5. Lost weight

During my first round of blogging I was still having major issues losing weight. I will always be dealing with my issues surrounding food, depression and binge eating. It was just not a great time for me. When I decided to close down the blog I was so sad. I felt like I was lying to everyone who was reading every day. I decided that I really needed to make some changes. Most of the changes I have listed above – I have carried out. I feel that these were all necessary steps for my process of recovery. I needed more independence and I needed something to work for in life. Binge eating and depression is something that I still battle with and I hope to write more about it for this blog. School has really helped me with this. I have met new people, made great friends, and my teachers have all been very understanding with me and my issues.

After

6. Ran my first 5k in a fun holiday race

Motivation with exercise is something I struggle with on a daily basis, so this was a huge accomplishment for me!

7. Dabbled in other projects

I created another blog because to be honest, I was bored of not writing! I also have an addiction to tea and coffee and figured I should really address it in written form ;)   A cuppa day just documents the latest coffee or tea I’m into and any sweet treats I come across. I find it helps to write about the food that used to terrify me! Food is just food, repeat it with me! Instead of beat myself up over my indulgences, I WILL celebrate them.

I may not jump in right away with daily blogs. But I am hoping to address binge eating, depression, and a few other issues that have influenced me in the near future. Hopefully when college is out in April, I can get back to regular food blogging again! So..enough about me. What about you!? Anyone out there? Fill me in on your life!

Have missed you all.

These are all really amazing accomplishments! I’m in school now and have struggled a lot with balance, and have also gone through periods of binging/ starving and depression. I can relate to so much of what you wrote about, and it’s really encouraging to know that someone else is going through similar things and is working to successfully manage them. Also, you look amazing, congratulations on achieving such a healthy, positive lifestyle and attitude!

Congrats on the big changes! Way to go! You are so right… food is JUST food. Not meant to define or rule our lives by any means. I let it rule my life for way too long but no more!
